WTM 009a

(Tunnel, South End, 60 feet from the end) You can see, at the limit of your sight, a ladder going up. The tunnel ends behind the ladder.

(At the ladder) There is a wooden ladder going straight up, forty feet, through a square shaft to a trap door. The trap door is closed.

The trap door has a bolt on the other side which is open.
(Throwing open trap door) There are six guards on the top of the wall where the door opens. They begin to turn around at the sound of the door opening.
The party must state quickly they are getting out of the shaft to get two characters out before the guards attack. Two guards per round can reach the doorway. Two characters per round can get out of the shaft.
(Slowly opening trap door) You cannot see any people on the wall.
Slow opening of the door will make the guards suspicious and they will move to a position behind the an door. Guards have one segment of surprise. The two guards behind the door will swing at the first character. Characters coming out of the shaft are at +4 to armour class unless precautions are taken. Two guards per round can join the fight. Two characters per round can get out of the shaft.
